Cristina is passionate about the social and participatory aspects of conservation and international development. With over 10 years of experience in the humanitarian and environmental sectors in Mexico and internationally, her goal is to creatively empower individuals toward a culture of change and leadership through project management and implementation. Her professional experience includes coordinating projects as a communications officer for the Mexico coordination of an international social organization, managing projects within the United Nations system at UN-Habitat in the water and sanitation sector, as well as working with civil society organizations and initiatives in Mexico.

Her project management skills include applying comprehensive, inclusive, and ecosystem-based methodologies, multi-stakeholder coordination, and the development of participatory and inclusive strategies for decision-making and co-management with a rights-based and sustainability approach. Cristina also has experience in the humanitarian sector through communication and digital media strategies for capacity building, campaigns, and reporting, as well as training and empowering communities to document and produce their own media and share their voices and stories of community and ecological resilience.

Cristina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Geography and Latin American Studies from the University of British Columbia in Canada. She has studied and traveled extensively across multiple countries and is multilingual.
